L-1 Work Visa

L-1A is nonimmigrant classification allows a U.S. employer to transfer an executive or manager from one of its affiliated foreign offices to one of its subsidiary offices in the United States.  This classification also enables a foreign company which does not yet have an affiliated U.S. office to send an executive or manager to the United States with the purpose of establishing an U.S. office.

If establishing a new office, the USCIS will only grant the visa for one (1) year for the initial period with extensions granted in two (2) year increments with a maximum of seven (7) years in total time in the U.S.  If there is an already existing business in the U.S., three (3) years with extensions in two (2) year increments with a maximum of seven (7) years.
