What Is the O-1 Visa?
The O-1 visa is a nonimmigrant visa for individuals who have demonstrated extraordinary ability or achievement in their field, and are coming to the U.S. to continue working in that area.
There are two primary categories:
O-1A: For individuals with extraordinary ability in sciences, education, business, or athletics
O-1B: For individuals in the arts, or with extraordinary achievement in film or television
Who Is Eligible for an O-1 Visa?
You may qualify if:
You have received national or international recognition for your achievements
You are coming to the U.S. for a specific project or job related to your expertise
You can demonstrate your prominence through awards, media coverage, high salaries, memberships, or published work
You are being petitioned by a U.S. employer, agent, or organization
